Woody
Russell is a precision tunesmith,
crafting his songs from a rich influence of roots, folk-rock, jazz and
blues. He builds on sparkling, percussive guitar work and cinematic
lyrics supported by a vocal delivery that shifts from a James Taylor
purr, to a Tom Waits growl, to pitch perfect phrasing that would make
Sinatra proud. Woody has been a featured artist at the Northwest
Folklife Festivals and Nashville New Music Conference, among others. He
was one of the Top 5 New Talent Finalists of 2004 at the prestigious
Newport Folk Festival; the only one to receive a coveted invitation to
